Our Buses

How many passengers can we take?
Our Routemasters have a seating capacity of 72. It is a legal requirement to provide a seat for everyone. If you have more passengers than seats we can offer you a second vintage bus or a second trip.
What colour classic buses do you have to offer?
The vehicles we currently have available for hire are all painted in traditional London Transport Red. Please see our Bus Gallery
Do you have a London Routemaster bus?
Yes, we do. Our London Routemasters are the pride of our fleet. They have been restored with traditional London Transport features and also modernised to ensure reliability and comfort. Please see our Bus Gallery for more details.
Can you provide more than one heritage bus?
Yes. We are happy to work with you to plan your itinerary. We can make recommendations on the ideal bus for your event based on the number of guests, location and times.
Are any of your vintage buses those without doors?
Yes. These buses are called "open platform". One of the responsibilities of a conductor is to supervise the open platform whilst the bus is in motion. Therefore for safety reasons, all ‘open platform’ buses require a conductor onboard.
Do you have any open top buses?
At the moment we do not have any open top buses available for hire. However, we can recommend a few other vintage bus operators that do!
Are these old buses safe?
Yes, safety is our no.1 priority. It is a minimum legal requirement that we have a valid Operator's License and as part of this license we must have a robust maintenance regime. This regime ensures each vintage bus undergoes regular checks by skilled mechanics for maintenance and safety. Each bus is subject to a vigorous public service vehicle test each year to the standard of a modern bus. All our drivers are required to complete an extensive check on their vehicle each day before the vehicle is taken out for service.

Services

Can you display a personal message on the front of the vintage bus?
These are called "destination blinds" and we can create bespoke messages of your choice to be displayed across the front of the bus, especially for you. We provide 1 blind absolutely free with every hire (additional blinds are available for £36 each inc VAT). The blinds are yours to keep as a lasting memory once the day is over. Please contact us to discuss these special arrangements.
Can we decorate the vintage bus?
We have several handmade ribbons, bows and silk flowers to decorate the vehicle inside and out. If you would like to discuss any special arrangements please give us a call.
Are your vintage buses available all year round?
Yes all of our vintage buses are available to hire all year round.
Do you check out the bus route before the day?
As with planning any day, preparation is key. We will always try and survey the route before the day to ensure everything runs smoothly. However this is not always possible and is not guaranteed. We do have measures in place to assess each route, and all of our drivers have extensive local geographical knowledge, particularly on the roads that best suit our type of vehicle. If you suspect your route may have difficult access or obstacles such as low bridges, overhanging tree branches or very narrow lanes, please let us know as this may limit which vehicles are available for your event.
Do you hire vintage buses outside your local area?
Yes. We will always do our best to serve your desired locations. Please remember there may be a higher cost for longer distances, particularly as our buses are old and don’t go as fast as the modern vehicle.
Do you hire out vintage buses at night?
Our vintage buses aren't very well suited for night time work so we do not always offer evening trips but we can provide late night journeys by special agreement. If you are planning a late night return journey for your wedding or event, we are happy to discuss this.
Can we play music on the vintage bus?
Yes! Our vintage buses are custom fitted with on-board PA systems. We also have microphones available.

Prices, Payment & Quotes

How much will the bus hire cost?
The cost of your hire is determined by a several factors, these include: the number of buses required, the total distance of travel and the entire duration of the hire. We do not charge extra for bank holidays or weddings. All quotes are fully inclusive, covering use of the bus, driver, conductor, mileage, fuel, and insurance.
How do I pay the balance?
We accept payment via card payment over the phone, bank transfer or cheque.
When will I have to pay the balance?
The balance is due 1 month before the date of your hire.
Do you supply a written quote?
Yes. Once we have agreed all the details of your vintage bus hire, we will send you a no obligation written quotation. Your booking will be confirmed in writing once we receive your non-returnable deposit.
Are you flexible on date changes?
Have a talk with us and we’ll see what we can do. We are sympathetic to changes in plans and will accommodate changes subject to the availability of our vintage buses. However, the deposit is non-refundable.
Is there a discount for the hire of more than one vintage bus?
Our quotations are competitively priced. The cost of your hire is based on the total distance of travel the entire duration of the hire and the amount of guests to be carried (because this will affect the number of buses required or the number of journeys). Once we have agreed your itinerary, we will provide you with a fully inclusive quote. If this quote includes multiple buses, then yes; we will include a discount.
Are there any extra charges?
Transportation is 0% VAT rated so no additional charges there. A number of our optional extras are provided free of charge such as interior decorations, tickets, and 1 free personalised blind. The only ‘chargeable’ extras are for additional personal destination blinds, which are custom made as per your specifications. These are £36 each inc VAT. Contact us for further info.

Yes they are. We have in-house procedures to ensure each vehicle is fully taxed (and not as a ‘historic’ vehicle). Each vehicle has an operator's disc clearly visible (the blue disc visible by the front doors). We have full Public Liability Insurance, plus all our buses are fully insured for carrying passengers and have a working tachograph in the cab.
Can we drink alcohol on the vintage bus?
Yes you can drink on-board our buses although we are not licenced to sell alcohol. We can take delivery of any food/drink before the day of hire to assist with logistics. Drinks can be brought to you on the bus in chillers.
